Last night I went to a community emergency preparedness training class. It was my first attendance, so after the class was over I asked one of the instructors if I was supposed to sign something. She gave me a sheet to sign, which consisted of columns for printing and signing one's name and recording the time. Before I signed she said, “Leave some space for my husband to sign, too.”
I thought that was a really odd request since the page was still half empty. When I told my wife about it later that night, she said, “Maybe she wanted you to skip a line so that his name would be next to hers.”
“Oh,” I said. “I thought she meant to leave space next to my name, so I wrote very tiny so that he could sign in the same boxes.”
